Thanks! Prisoners and Doomsday were on my list of over-ripe cheese to add to my color PD collection!

Long John Silver used to be here. What happened to it?

I have a copy of Long John Silver that I uploaded. It is in the links at the top of page. It was also called "Long John Silver's Return to Treasure Island.

I think Blackmail (1929) is still under copyright. It's been uploaded here before but it always gets deleted.

For "Blackmail" it was PD in the UK at time of GATT so not eligible for restore. I checked the U.S. copyright catalog and this is the info I found. I have all the copyright renewal pages downloaded from Haiti Trust as their search function doesn't always return results even if there was one because of garbled OCR text. So I read the pages one by one to be sure.

From cumulative copyright catalog - original registration:

BLACKMAIL. 1930. 8 reels, sd. From the
play by Charles Bennett.
Credits: Directed and adapted by Alfred
Hitchcock.
© Sono Art World Wide Pictures, Inc.;
21Dec30; LP1841.

*** Renewal Window - 21Dec57 to 21Dec58

No renewal found in copyright catalog

I just checked both versions, it's hard to tell. Mine might be a little sharper and it doesn't have the green tint.

"And it can be argued that GATT protects the post-1945 films in US for the full US copyright term regardless of their status in their home state."

This US renewal was found:

R578288.
Great expectations. By General Film
Distributors, Ltd. 13 reels.
S 11???47; L1017. Rank Film Distribu-
tors, Ltd. (PWH); 7May74; R578288.

"Great Expectations" was listed as PD at this link so I didn't research it.
http://www.archive.org/post/285670/are-these-public-domain

I looked over the print and I don't see a copyright notice on it. For a U.S. film that make it PD. Does GATT forgive that omission?

Thanks

I don't know. Let's hope that Video-Cellar will answer this question.
